The season started well at North Staffs Spring show. The venue had moved to Reaseeheath College. With all new facilities, a lovely airy indoor arena and large outdoor arenas. Stables were excellent quality, and the security and passport checking was second to none.

CHAMPIAAN was on his ridden debut showing outing with rider Sarah Monkman, our younger rider and very much part of Team Aklah. Not to over phase him we entered him in the pre-novice class. After a good ride round and a pull to the top of the line the pressure was on Sarah to produce a good show, and she did not disappoint.

We were very pleased with Champiaan’s first place, and a good step on the ladder for Sarah Monkman into the show world with this beautiful horse. I’m sure you will see a lot of this partnership to come.

AJA ESTAREYNA de-noviced last year after a very successful season, and it was her first step into the open classes. She was not as settled as she can be but came away with a creditable 2nd place and qualification for BACS. She will be contesting the HOYs qualifying classes this season.

TRUE ADDICTION had a good outing, working in well, but again needing the first outing of his season to get him back into the work ethic for showing.

It has been a long winter and we look forward to loosing the hairy coats and some warm sunny weather.
